There are both chemical and cultural strategies farmers may use to keep it in check. Having explored resistance issues with waterhemp and Palmer amaranth, let's turn our attention to discuss some control options for soybean in fields where resistance has been observed. Learning to differentiate between the “regular” pigweeds, water hemp, and Palmer amaranth is critical for effective weed management. At press time, a bill had been introduced in the Iowa Legislature to declare Palmer amaranth a noxious weed in Iowa. Sure.
